I'm Sorry, Indonesia

I don't remember ever having nationalistic pride for Indonesia. I love the food, but other than that, I overlook pretty much everything. Having lived there for 17 years, my life was pretty monotonous especially when I hit high school. Nothing ever changed. I was in the same school for 12 years. It really felt like I was mentally, and to an extent physically, put in a cage so when I moved and lived independently it was a relieving and freeing experience. Not only is Indonesian culture heavily Westernized, but there is also a sort of cultural imperialism. I think this engrained ideology and my dull state at the time led me to retrieve to bands who are not from South-East Asia, even though A LOT of my friends are involved in the scene.

My Thoughts on "So Long, See You Tomorrow" by Bombay Bicycle Club

It's only the second month of 2014 and I think I've found my favourite album of the year. Two and a half years after releasing their well-loved album A Different Kind Of Fix Bombay Bicycle Club is back with a fourth album. The record consists of ten beautifully produced and well thought of tracks. From the way the band progresses album to album, it is obvious that Bombay Bicycle Club is an unpredictable band. Started as a proper rock band, they moved to low-key productions in Jack Steadman's bedroom making acoustic folk songs for their second album Flaws to making indie pop music with catchy-as-hell bass lines, and who knows what they constitute as in this new album.
